I remember the urge and determination to make things and bring them to the public. My work was a staged, fake documentary, perhaps because there is no absolute truth in photography; that idea has stayed with me ever since.

Mostly, I remember the exceptional quality of the British art scene at the time. Equally important was the opportunity to experience art, exchange ideas, and make art.

I've been working as an artist in an expanded field of photography, creating installations and other interdisciplinary works. Yet photographic thinking has remained my primary tool. That mindset was shaped during my time at Kent Institute of Art and Design. That was a time of discovery. It probably would have happened anywhere, but my time in the UK made it what it was. KIAD remains very precious to me.
